REVIEWS
I an in 9b with alkaline soil. All twelve plants were placed in movable wagons with acidic soil and a thick layer of palo verde fronds because they are right in my back yard. Eleven of the twelve took right off with the last one poking along. Temps are still peaking at 80-90, so die back has not occured. First time growing, so I am learning from the experience
These were in good shape when I received them (6b). I got them in the ground and then left for 3 weeks. When I got home they were all thriving, and even sent out runners! Since im not using a grow cover, I potted up the runners and brought them inside under a light. I’ll move them outside shortly and plant them this spring. It turned out better than I anticipated for a fall planting.
So far they came as they said…I lost two plants but there were two who has runners and we waited to see if it roots and they did so I got 48 anyway! It is planted and so far they are all growing and surviving . Can’t wait to see the fruits come spring!
The plants arrived in decent shape. Some yellow and broken leaves, but that is to be expected with shipping. The plant roots were not close to filling the "pots" they were in. Perhaps this is because my shipping date was one of the early ones, due to my northern climate. And those who received their plants later had more established root systems. The plants themselves had good vigor. It is obvious to me, a small scale market gardener, that they received excellent nutrition and care. However, I have no idea if this annual strawberry method is gonna work in my area. Won't really know till spring. We have such a short growing season (sometimes only 45 days between hard frosts, but also sometimes over 100.) So it will be hard to know in one year, but excited to see how it goes.
I have failed over and over again to get strawberry plants to grow…but I bought these plants and planted them in a front bed and I can’t believe how they have grown…They are beautiful and can’t wait to see produce next yr!
