Turmeric is one of those fascinating crops that regionalizes more than most, meaning it adapts to the specific environment it’s grown in. That’s why we’re committed to growing our seedstock as far north as possible—helping future plants thrive in colder regions.

Sample Pack Varieties:

Blue Turmeric
Thanks to Ray Tyler in Tennessee, we had the chance to grow this striking variety. Blue Turmeric has beautiful top growth, but the yield is a bit lower than we’d like right now. We’ll keep experimenting to dial it in. Yields are around 1.5 pounds per plant when including the mother rhizome and about ¾ pound per plant without it.

Green Turmeric
This one was a joy to grow! It pops up quickly in the spring, develops huge tops, and produces a large mother rhizome. Cucurmin Is much lower, as well as overall yield Is Around 1.5 lb or so.

Florida Red Turmeric
A standout in our turmeric lineup, Florida Red is known for its deep red color, which indicates a high curcumin content. This variety produces the largest rhizomes of all the types we grow. On our larger plants, we’re seeing yields of up to 3.5 pounds of rhizomes per plant, making it an excellent choice for those looking for both volume and potency.

Black Turmeric

Similar to blue turmeric, but smaller, and can be darker. Smell is stronger.

Turmeric can take a while (6 weeks) to germinate, we recommend damp peat moss and temperatures of 70-80 degrees.

Alabama Wild Turmeric
This variety, which we introduced last year (more info here), has really impressed us with its vigor and consistent growth. Would be considered a yellow turmeric that's been battle tested and abused to encourage hardiness. The tubers are somewhat smaller, but they make up for it with their abundance and ease of growth. We’re seeing yields around 2 pounds per plant—a great result for a northern-grown turmeric variety!
