Green Cover's Warm Season Soil Pollinator Mix is perfect for attracting pollinators to your garden in the peak of production season. Created with almost every warm season flowering cover crop we carry, this mix is highly diverse and will attract a wide range of pollinators. The diversity is also helpful in housing a diversity of soil microbes, which help to make your soil healthy. This is a great mix to use if you're resting a bed for the year or trying to bring a bed back to life.

This mix will cold kill when winter temperatures reach 32 °F.

Ingredients

Sweet Clover, Cowpeas, Mung Beans, Sunn Hemp, Fenugreek, Millet, Sorghum, White Mustard, Brown Mustard, Arugula, Radish, African Cabbage, Sunflower, Safflower, Okra, Buckwheat, Flax, Chia, Sesame Seed, Elevate'd Fungi Inoculant, and RhizoBac X-Tend Inoculant

Although these seeds are not certified organic, our seeds are non-GMO and not treated with pesticides. All inoculants are manufactured to organic standards.

Planting

Broadcast Seeding Rate: 1 lbs/1000 square feet (50 lbs per acre)

Broadcast and lightly incorporate when soil temperatures are 60 degrees Fahrenheit and rising. Planting should be completed by mid-summer.

Termination

When planted and terminated properly, cover crops can act as an excellent mulch, preventing weed seeds from germinating.

In climates that reach 32 °F lows in the winter, Warm Season Pollinator Mix will winter kill. At this point, you may choose to remove the biomass or crimp the terminated cover crop to act as mulch for your following crop.

For no-till applications, we recommend terminating Warm Season Pollinator Mix with a flail mower followed by a tarp for 2 weeks before your next planting.

Warm Season Pollinator can also be terminated by tilling and incorporating as a green manure.

Where the context allows, grazing can be effective at terminating if it is followed by a silage tarp.

On a very small scale, cutting with a hand sickle or turning the soil over with a shovel and following with a tarp can also be effective.

Inoculants

This product is pre-inoculated with Elevate'd Fungi and RhizoBac X-Tend to increase the biological activity in your soil.

  • Elevate'd Fungi is a seed applied inoculant derived from natural products designed to stimulate seed germination, increase root and biological biomass in the soil, and improve soil structure. OMRI status has been applied for and is pending.
  • Rhizo-Bac X-Tend features high concentrations of multi-species nitrogen fixing rhizobia for peas, vetch, cowpeas, sunn hemp and soybeans, Additionally, free living nitrogen fixing and phosphorus solubilizing bacteria combine for a robust broad spectrum seed treatment for your cover crops. We use Elevate'd Fungi as the liquid carrier for this dry inoculant to ensure proper coating on every seed for every mix. This product is OMRI approved.*

*OMRI Certificates: OMRI Certificate for Elevate'd Fungi; OMRI Certificate for RhizoBac X-Tend
