Italian Red Softneck is a classic heirloom garlic with bold flavor and reliable yields. Known for its rich, full-bodied taste, this variety brings a true garlic punch to sauces, sautés, and roasts. The bulbs are tightly wrapped in white skins streaked with red and contain 12–16 cloves, making it a beautiful and practical choice for both the kitchen and storage.

Adapted to a wide range of climates, Italian Red Softneck is easy to grow and keeps well for 6–9 months when properly cured. Its strong flavor, long storage life, and traditional look make it a favorite among home gardeners and cooks who love authentic Italian flavor.

Features:

  • Bulb Details: Expect 12-16 cloves per bulb.

  • NON-GMO- grown using traditional farming techniques.
  • Inspected & Clean: Each bulb is carefully inspected to ensure it’s free from pests, mites, or diseases, guaranteeing healthy stock for planting or cooking.

  • Softneck Garlic: Known for flexible stalks that allow braiding, softnecks store longer (6–12 months), are milder and produce more cloves per bulb than hardneck. They rarely bolt, ensuring consistent bulb growth, and thrive in a wide range of climates (Zones 4–9).

Growing Instructions:

  1. Planting Time: For best results, plant cloves in fall, 4-6 weeks before the first frost (around Columbus Day), or in early spring in milder climates.

  2. Spacing: Space cloves 4-6 inches apart in rows, with 6-8 inches between rows for optimal growth.

  3. Depth: Plant each clove with the pointed end up, buried approximately 2 inches deep in well-drained, compost-enriched soil.

  4. Care: Water regularly, especially during dry periods. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds, particularly in colder regions.

  5. Harvest: Harvest in early to mid-summer when lower leaves turn brown. Dig carefully, then cure bulbs in a dry, well-ventilated area for 3-4 weeks.
