Albion Strawberry is a premium day-neutral (everbearing) strawberry variety known for its large, deep red berries and extended harvest season. Albion produces firm, sweet, conical fruit from late spring through summer and into fall, making it an excellent choice for gardeners who want continuous berry production. Growing Information
🌱 Plant Type: Bare root strawberry (day-neutral / everbearing)
🌱 Hardiness Zones: 4–9
🌱 When to Plant: Early spring, as soon as soil can be worked
🌱 When to Harvest: Late spring through fall, depending on location and growing conditions
Cultivation Tips
• Soil requirements: Plant in well-drained, fertile soil rich in organic matter. Ideal soil pH is 6.5–6.8. Avoid areas where water pools.
• Sunlight: Full sun (6+ hours daily) for best fruit size and sweetness.
• Planting depth: Set plants so the crown (where roots meet stems) sits right at soil level—not buried and not exposed.
• Spacing: For optimal berry size, space plants about 16 inches apart with rows 3–4 feet apart. Wider spacing improves airflow, light penetration, and nutrient access.
• Watering: Water thoroughly after planting and maintain consistent moisture, especially during establishment and fruiting. Mulching helps conserve moisture.
• Fertilization: Albion benefits from nitrogen-rich fertilization to support continuous flowering and fruit production.
• Harvesting: Pick berries when fully red and fragrant. Harvest regularly to encourage continued production.
• First-year care: Removing early flowers during the first few weeks can help plants establish stronger roots, though Albion will often still produce later in the season.

Additional Information
Albion strawberries arrive as dormant bare-root crowns (roots without soil). Upon arrival, unpack immediately and soak roots in water for 1-2 hours (or up to overnight if needed). Plant as soon as possible. If planting is delayed, store roots in a cool, moist place (such as a refrigerator) wrapped in damp paper.
Albion also offers resistance to verticillium wilt, phytophthora crown rot, and some anthracnose crown rot, making it easier to grow with fewer chemical inputs.
Non-GMO Commitment: At The Farm on Central, all our plants are guaranteed non-GMO and not genetically modified in any way, upholding natural breeding methods and promoting sustainable gardening and farming practices.
