(Lactuca sativa) Dating back to the 1700s and introduced by SESE in 1986, this Schweitzer family heirloom was brought to the U.S. from Austria in the early 1900s. Best grown in cool weather, it forms small, tight, crisp heads with green leaves beautifully edged in red. It’s known for both its excellent flavor and attractive appearance.
