(Dianthus barbatus) This sweet-scented perennial, often grown as an annual, produces brilliant little flowers in shades of pink, red, purple, and violet. It thrives in moist but well-drained soil and full sun, though partial shade is recommended in the South. A great choice for spring bulb covers and long-lasting cut flowers, it also reseeds easily for future blooms.

How to Grow:
Perennial. Germination: 60–70°F, 14–30 days. Direct sow in spring or fall, or transplant after the danger of frost has passed. Space plants 12–15 inches apart. Grows 12–18 inches tall.
